How to Play
How to Play
- Objective
The goal for the Tiger is to capture 5 goats. The goal for the Goats is to trap all 4 tigers so they cannot move.
- Phase 1: Placing Pieces
The Tiger player goes first and places all 4 tigers on any empty points. Then, the Goat player places their first 4 goats on any remaining empty points.
- Phase 2: The Main Game
Players take turns. A Tiger can either move to an adjacent empty spot, or capture a goat by jumping over it to the empty spot immediately behind. A Goat player's turn consists of placing one new goat from their supply onto any empty spot.
- Phase 3: Goat Movement
Once all 20 goats are on the board, the Goat player can no longer place new pieces. Instead, they must move one of their existing goats to an adjacent empty spot on their turn.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does a tiger capture a goat?
A tiger captures a goat by jumping over it in a straight line (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) to the very next empty spot. The captured goat is then removed from the board.
Can a goat capture a tiger?
No. Only tigers can capture. Goats win by blocking.
What is the "Paani Ghara" (ପାଣି ଘର) rule?
This is a special win condition for the goats. If the Goat player manages to place all 20 of their goats on the board and the tigers are trapped without having made a single capture, it's a "Paani Ghara" win. It signifies the tiger "died of thirst" before it could "drink" (capture).
